★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A must visit whenever you're in Kawaguchiko. The place is amazing, the staff are friendly. The authentic Hoto Noodles combined with a great view of Mt. Fuji, it's a perfect place. Recommended visit during lunch time.

Abalone stock based houto makes for a soothing, deep and savory taste. Protein choices are pork and chicken, simple compared to the other houto restaurants offering game meat, but the soup defines this dish. The standard houto is 1,320jpy which is fairly reasonable compared to other restaurants, a banger deal for the taste- and understandably why there is a line for lunch.
Definitely give the Suridane (chili miso) a try. The suridane here has a fragrant yuzu mix which cuts through the starchy soup.
The houto is served in the usual metal pot, no gas stove at the table.
Card payment available, last order 19:30.

This shop is good!
Because the food which the shop serve is very delicious.
And the shop is very clean.
We can use credit card, several cashless pay.
I recommend using this shop for dates, family meals, sightseeing, etc.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Large, newer hoto place with unique architecture and great view of Fuji. English menu available. You can opt for tatami seating by the window with the view of Fuji or at a regular table. The hoto was pretty much as expected as far as hoto goes. Don't go out of your way, but definitely recommend stopping by if hungry and in the area.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Most people try Hōtō (餺飥麵, ほうとう) which is a noodle soup and popular regional dish originating from Yamanashi, made by stewing flat udon noodles and vegetables in miso soup during the visit of Kawaguchiko.
Houtou Fudou which is located near Kawaguchiko station might be the most popular one but we preferred Houtoukura Funari Kawaguchiko. It’s far from the train station and need to get there either by bus or driving yourself but it’s worth a visit.
Houtoukura Funari was recognized as the best Hōtō around Fuji Mt. area for years and the views from the restaurant is astonishingly beautiful.
The choice on the menu was limited but everything was delicious. We only ordered one bowl of Hōtō with pork & veggies and 2 sides: braised chicken liver, pork intestine. The portion of Hōtō was more than enough to share by two of us and it was pretty decent, the noodles was chewy, the soup was sweet and light. Their sides, just FYI we love dishes of edible visceral, were also great.
Overall, we highly recommend people who visit Kawaguchiko to try your Hōtō here if you have time.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I want to try local famous food so I picked a top-rated restaurant on google map then here we are.
You can see Mt.Fuji while eating but there was long queue in the afternoon so I came back for dinner instead. Each table are large and can fit 6 to 8 people. I ordered pork set and roasted beef salad.
Houtou soup was okay, not too creamy, a lot of vegetable. Noodle was thick and a bit sticky.
Staff were nice, friendly and did their jobs very quick.
