今回、船岡平和観音の場所表示のところに書き込みますが、この観音像だけではなく、船岡城の情報についても含み書き込みます。
まずこの観音像は、地元の名士が昭和40年に当時の金で五千万円の私費を投じて建立したものであり、建立場所は山城であった船岡城跡地の一角です。
次に、船岡城についてですが、この城の最初の築城は、今から遡ること鎌倉時代、地元の豪族の芝田氏によるものであり、この地が選定されたのは、ここが古来から交通の要所であったこと、河川・山々など地形的な面からの要害であったことによるものではないかと推測されているようです。なお、詳しくは、掲示した写真のうち、碑文の写真にある説明を読んでください。
いずれにしても、標高135メートルからの眺望は素晴らしく、特に桜の開花時期などは、この船岡城跡地の山腹にある桜から一見千本桜(ひとめせんぼんぞくら)に至るまでの景観が見事なものであるようで、当方、その時期の写真で確認したものの、是非とも実際にその時期に訪れて観てみたいものだなと思いました。

First, this Kannon statue was built by a local celebrity in 1965 with private money of 50 million yen at the time, and it is located on the corner of Funaoka Castle Ruins, which was Yamashiro.
Next, regarding Funaoka Castle, the first castle of this castle was built by a local royal family Shibata in the Kamakura period dating back to the present, and this place was selected since ancient times. It is speculated that this may have been due to the fact that it was a key point, and that it was a topographical hazard such as rivers and mountains. In addition, please read the explanation in the photograph of the inscription among the posted photos for details.
In any case, the view from an altitude of 135 meters is wonderful, especially when the cherry blossoms bloom, the scenery from the cherry blossoms on the hillside of the former site of Funaoka Castle to the seemingly thousands of cherry blossoms (Hitame Senbonzokura) is stunning. It seemed to be something, and although I confirmed it with the pictures of that time, I thought that I really wanted to visit and see it at that time.

山頂は一目千本桜や柴田町、大河原町を一望できる絶景の展望台があります。
鉄道カメラマンの撮影スポットになっています。観光客の迷惑にならないよう三脚は数分だけ立てるよう注意書きがあります。
花畑や売店、バリアフリートイレなどがあります。
山頂までバリアフリー対応です。スロープカーに車椅子で乗車できます。
A huge Kannon is enshrined. There is a romantic anecdote that Tokusaburo Noguchi, a wealthy man, made it at his own expense in hopes of his wife's life and world peace.
At the top of the mountain, there is an observatory with a magnificent view overlooking Ichimoku Senbonzakura, Shibata Town, and Okawara Town.
It is a shooting spot for railway photographers. There is a note that the tripod should be set up for only a few minutes to avoid disturbing tourists.
There are flower gardens, shops, barrier-free toilets, etc.
It is barrier-free to the summit. You can get on the slope car in a wheelchair.

柴田町出身の野口徳三郎翁が私財で建立した像…との事です。坂を登って息切れしていましたが、想像以上に美しい像で癒されました。
