渡	渡辺裕二 on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 昔、まだ鉄道が開通する以前。福渡は、岡山と津山のほぼ中間に位置することから、行こか岡山、戻ろか津山、ここが思案の深渡し。と唄われたほどの難所でした。「深渡し」とは旭川の渡し船のことで、深渡しが後に地名の「福渡」となったそうです。当時、津山往来を行き交う人は、津山〜岡山間は約二日かかる為、福渡で一泊したそうです。開通した今でも、JR岡山駅から約45分、JR津山駅から約40分の津山線中間位置になります。そういう位置なので、駅の開業から更に栄えた町でした。確か元号が平成になった頃まで、駅前には商店街や飲み屋・パチ屋があったと記憶しています。今回、久しぶりに訪ねてみると、その面影も殆どありませんでした。一時期はその駅名から「福が渡る」と言われ、切符が沢山売れていたのが懐かしいです。 Long ago, before the railway was opened.
