★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 西京街道沿いに発展した宿場町で、今も江戸後期から明治期に建てられた妻入民家の町並みが残っています。端から端まで歩いて往復1時間ほどだと思います。途中にレストランやカフェ、自転車屋さん、雑貨店など、新しいお店がオープンしていて、まち歩き以外にも楽しめるところです。
町並みは宿場町と農村集落の２つの要素が連続しているのが特徴で、西の福住は近世の宿場町として栄え、間口の狭い町家が中心、東の川原、安口、西野々は農村として発展し、大きな三角屋根の妻入りの茅葺き・トタン葺の農家が特徴となっています。
It is a post town that has developed along the Saikyo Kaido, and still retains the townscape of a wife house built in the late Edo and Meiji eras. I think it's about an hour to walk from end to end. Along the way, new shops such as restaurants, cafes, bicycle shops, and general stores have opened, and it is a place where you can enjoy other than walking around the town.
The townscape is characterized by two consecutive elements, a post town and a rural village. Fukuzumi in the west prospered as a post town in the modern era, with narrow townhouses in the frontage, Kawagawa, Aguchi, and Nishino in the east. It is characterized by a thatched and galvanized house with a large triangular roof and a wife.
