The exhibits here use specimens collected in Itoigawa Geopark to tell the story of how the Japanese Islands were formed and how the earth has and continues to shape our lives. Children get in free!

There's a video with screens on the floor so you can watch the movement of the tectonic plates, great for kids and childish adults alike. I highly suggest going to the gorge and other places of interest after visiting the museum.
A	Andy Hong on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Excellent museum filled with pretty stones and fossils that make me want to be a geologist. Good and clear English explanations, and lots of fun, interactive exhibits. Definitely worth the trip. Don't believe the pamphlet that says it only takes an hour to go through this and the adjacent archaeological museum; I spent almost 2 hours just here, and still had to blitz through the last bit because the museum was closing.
