★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 曹洞宗寺院の永昌寺は、天長山と号します。永昌寺は、寛永元年（1624）に龍昌寺5世明岩舜洞が江戸四ツ谷塩町に創建したといいます。明治43年、下高井戸2丁目にあった永泉寺を合併し、当所へ移転しました。
曹洞宗天長山永昌寺といい、本尊は釈迦如来坐像です。
開創年代ははっきりしませんが、「続御府内備考」及び寺伝によると、寛永元年（1624）4月、江戸四ツ谷塩町（現新宿区愛住町）に建立したとされています。
開山は、同町の龍昌寺（現中野区中野6-3-7に移転）の五世明岩舜洞で、寛永12年7月に入寂しています。
明治43年、寺院の維持発展のため、現下高井戸2丁目にあった同宗永泉寺を合併し、当所ヘ移転してきました。
合併される以前の永泉寺には、玉石薬師と呼ばれる玉石があり、そのいわれは、この玉石が玉川上水永泉寺附近工事の際に、光沢ある玉石として掘り出され、その光沢の中に薬師像が浮出たことによるといわれます。
また、同寺では、工事の無事竣工を念じてこの玉石を供養したことから、近隣の信仰を集め、因んで丸薬も作られたと伝えられます。
昭和20年5月、戦災に遭い、この玉石は、本堂とともに焼かれて光沢を失ったものの、今なお、大切に安置されています。
このほか、門前と境内には、四基の庚申塔と二基の地蔵塔があります。
Echo-ji Temple, the Soto Buddhist temple, is called Tennagayama. Eichang-ji is said to have been built in Edo Yotsuya-shiocho in the Edo Yotsuya Shio-cho, in the first year of Kanei (1624). In 1894, merged with Eisenji Temple, located in Shimotakaido 2-chome, and moved to our office.
It is called Soto Tentenzan Eishoji, and the main shrine is a statue of Buddha.
The date of establishment is not clear, but according to “Reimufufu Remarks” and Teraden, it was said that it was built in Yotsuya Shiocho, Edo (currently Aizumi-cho, Shinjuku-ku) in April 1624.
Kaizan was lonely in Kanei in 12 years at Gosei Myiwa-dong, Ryuji Temple (currently moved to Nakano-ku 6-3-7) in the same town.
In 1904, the temple was relocated to our place by merging the same sect Eizumi-ji, which was in 2-chome Shimotakaido, for the maintenance and development of the temple.
Before the merger, Eisenji had a boulder called a cobblestone pharmacist, which is said to have been digged as a glossy cobblestone during the construction near Tamagawajosui Eisenji. It is said that the pharmacist image emerged.
In addition, the temple is said to have been made pills by gathering the faith of the neighborhood because it was nourished with the boulder in mind for the safe completion of the construction.
This boulder was burned with the main hall and lost its luster in May 1945, but it is still kept safe.
In addition, there are four Buddhist towers and two Jizo towers in front of the gate and the precincts.
