Echigo-Kawaguchi Station - Nagaoka

I used Echigo-Kawaguchi Station for the first time in August 1990 to get on the railcars on the Iiyama Line. To me, 19 years old at the time, it looked like a station building with a scenic appearance like the countryside of Niigata. The Uono River, which is a tributary of the Shinano River, runs near the west exit, which is the entrance to the station, and there is a mountain at the east exit (it is impossible to enter and exit). I think the appeal of Echigo-Kawaguchi Station is that it looks almost the same as it was 31 years ago. The double-track electrified Joetsu line is also attractive, but my recommendation is the single-track non-electrified Iiyama line. The diagram is fragile, slow and inconvenient, but the scenery along the line is wonderful throughout the year. Correctly, it is the original landscape of Japan itself. The middle line, which used to be the headshunt of the steam locomotive on the Iiyama line, exists between lines 1 and 2 (currently not in use). There was also a turntable beyond that, but it was removed before 1990. Since Echigo-Kawaguchi Station itself is located in the middle of the curved section of the Joetsu Line, the lines 2 and 3 are The rat home is curved. Due to its unusual appearance, movies and dramas have been located in the past.

I used it because it was the free area starting point of the Shinshu One Day Pass. It's a rural station, so there's no stand. There is no convenience store if you do not walk for about 10 minutes. View of the riverside on the way is good view.

It is a transfer station for the Joetsu Line and the Iiyama Line. Well, it's a countryside, or a station that stands quietly in a quiet area. Now that there is a sightseeing train that runs on the Iiyama Line, it feels like it has become a station with more flowers than before.

A station where the Iiyama Line and Joetsu Line branch off. There are a few shops in front of the station, but it can be said that there is nothing in the middle of the night. There are no convenience stores or shops. There are vending machines. The waiting room at the station is solid, so it's quite enough to wait for the train while overcoming the wind and snow. It seems that there is a hot spring facility within a 20-minute walk, but I was disappointed that I did not visit this time.

Unfortunately, I couldn't get the station stamp until 14:30 when the station staff was there.
