★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Joining a couple of other reviewers to say if you’ve been to a Din Tai Fung in China, you’ll probably be disappointed here. I’ve only been to the Taipei branch, but even so the Nagoya one doesn’t quite hold up by comparison. I should say first of all the food is (mostly) great, and comparable in quality, but it’s more expensive and the portions are smaller. There isn’t as much choice when it comes to beer either, I expected more Chinese beers. We also had a couple of more irritating problems here - after ordering and waiting 15 minutes a server came over and informed us that our order hadn’t been registered and he’d have to enter it again. The staff also seemed rushed and not particularly friendly. And one of our dishes took much longer than the others to arrive. And worst of all, I ordered a hot and sour soup which was not sour whatsoever! It was like they’d forgotten to add the vinegar or something. Aside from that though, it was really pretty good. We left filled and satisfied. Just quite a few too many gaffes got in the way.

3. Soup dumplings, pork (小籠包)
Overall pretty nice. Well suited for the elderly as most things here taste mild but very fragrant. They also take note of your allergies and will prepare your food/suggest alternatives surrounding your allergies. Definitely a very good experience. Finding the restaurant is a little tricky though, you may have to navigate abit before you find it. Do note that during peak hours, a wait of ~30 minutes is expected. Call them to book a table or come a little earlier!
