風土記御用書出によると、寛正元年(1460)、国分家11代目の盛行の援助を受け、領主であった古内近江守の帰依によって洞雲寺11世が開山したと伝えられている。
伊達忠宗公の位牌を安置しており、忠宗に従い殉死した岩沼領主、古内主膳重広と追腹した家来の3人の墓があることから、古内家の菩提寺ともなっている。
寺宝として、仙台城下町絵図や古内主膳の奥方である高木氏が奉納したと伝えられる写経などがある。
梵鐘も奉納されたが、金属供出により非現存。
現在の梵鐘は昭和45年に再鋳されたもの。

It is the palace of the Furuuchi family because it has the graves of the Date Tadashi sect, and there are three tombs, the lord of Iwanuma, who died in accordance with Tadamune, the Lord Shigehiro Furuuchi, and the servant who had his abdomen.
The temple treasures include the Sendai castle town map and the sutras that are said to have been dedicated by Mr. Takagi, who is the wife of Kozen Kozen.
The bell bell was also dedicated, but it is nonexistent due to metal donation.
The current bell bell was recast in 1965.
