8 floors in total (B1-7), this store becomes tighter than a tin can after major events (Comic1, Comiket). My preferred time to casually browse is from opening through 2pm.
English assistance is available if required via a phone translation service.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Massive selection of Manga and doujins for all ages and adults. Probably the largest in Tokyo. The staff are always very friendly and helpful even if you barely speak the language. And keep your eyes open for the always excellent freebies and omake!

The stock mainly consists of recent releases but sometimes older books can be found.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ There are two kinds of people in this world: Enlightened beings, and filthy gaijin. All my enlightened brethren love Toranoana. It is a gift that keeps on giving. Each floor just gets better and better. Even if you decide not to buy anything, you will have a blast looking at all the toe-sucking doujinshi with the boys.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Okay, so here’s the deal: You came to Japan for fun, and you came specifically to Akihabara because you had something in mind. What’s that? 2D? Otaku subculture? Ecchi comics and doujinshi? There’s ALL of that here, plus more. Doujin goods, doujin games, and goodies popular doujin authors tailor-made for people like you(yes, you and me).
The service isn’t top notch and you shouldn’t expect Kyoto-style sekkyaku by any means, but who needs sekkyaku in doujinshi anyway? You got your waifu in there right? Also while the staff isn’t exactly hotel-class, they have a totally no-BS type of attitude. As in, ‘okay I know you came here for the ecchi, shut up and take our goods and we shut up and take your money, no questions asked’.
They provide ‘points’ if you pay in cash(this-providing discounts when paying in cash- is illegal where I live, but I guess not in Japan since a large business like Toranoana is doing it) but it is available for one year only so you may as well use your credit card if you’re a traveler.
Totally recommended if you like the Otaku culture and are interested in adult or all-age doujin creations by various creative individuals. Five stars!
