江戸時代の中頃、湯の瀬に、1頭の鹿がうずくまっていた。近づいてみると、足に怪我をして動けず、そこに湧き出している水で傷口を癒していた。その水に触れてみると、水は温かみがあり硫黄の臭いもした。それは霊験あらたかな湯水だ、神の思し召しにちがいない、と鹿を助け、「湯屋権現」の神を祀って湯の瀬を大切に扱ったと伝えられている。

In the middle of the Edo period, a deer was crouching in Yunoze. Upon approaching, he was injured in his leg and was unable to move, and he was healing the wound with the water springing up there. When I touched the water, it was warm and smelled like sulfur. It is said that it was a fresh hot spring water that must have been called by the god, and that the deer was helped and the god of "Yuya Gongen" was enshrined and the Yunose was treated carefully.
