Byakugo-ji Temple - Nara

From Shin-Yakushiji Temple, you will pass through the village and go up a small hill to reach it in about 15 minutes on foot. (There are direction signs here and there) Various trees and flowers such as Hagi on the stone steps and old five-colored camellia trees, linden trees, and Japanese pampas grass are beautifully planted in the garden. The view is also wonderful and you can see the Ikomasanchi system from the Nara Basin. The famous Enmaou welcomes you in the treasure house in the form of intense anger, and there are officials, commanders, and scribes of the underworld, so it is very scary, but there is a very beautiful Jizo Bodhisattva (must-see) next to it. I am relieved that you will save me. There is a beautiful Amida Nyorai in the main hall, which is very quiet and calm, which is suitable for an old temple. I am impressed with the appearance that is said to be. In this way, there is a wonderful view of the world that can only be found at Byakugo-ji Temple. It is a famous temple that I would like to visit again slowly in different seasons.

I saw it for the first time in late September of 2nd year of Reiwa. According to the information that Hagi flowers are wonderful, I checked in advance. I thought it would be perfect for my visit, but unfortunately it was still early. Only the lids in the photo were in full bloom. Hagi was in full bloom first, but the bluish-purple torenia was in full bloom around the treasure house. Pale grass blue was gathered in Hagi, and Papilio helenus was gathered in Torenia. Butterflies are laid-back and graceful, unlike bees that fly around in a busy manner. A busy Hoshihojak also came to Torenia, but unfortunately I couldn't take good pictures quickly. Mr. Shirakashi is famous as a temple of flowers. There was a magnificent camellia as a natural monument in the precincts. There weren't many worshipers at the time of the visit, but when Hagi and Tsubaki are in full bloom, it seems to be crowded with worshipers. Many Buddha statues are also enshrined. The main aim was the Kannon Bodhisattva and Mahasthamaprapta (whose posture is unusual) of the side samurai of the Amitabha triad in the main hall, but the statue of the Jizo Bodhisattva enshrined in the treasure house was particularly impressive. The green and gold colors at the beginning of the construction had a considerable amount of residue that made me think that it was a secret Buddha, and the halo was also splendid. From the west side of the treasure house, you can overlook the city of Nara, and on a clear day, the view is nice. Unfortunately, the weather was not good on the day I visited, and the photos did not look good. I definitely want to visit when the flowers are lively.

2021/09/16 Admission fee is ¥ 500-. It seems that it is a temple famous for Hagi flowers, so I visited it online. The Hagi of Toshodaiji Temple was in full bloom last week, but it seemed to be in full bloom from now on.

It is a temple where you can meet Yama. Great if camellia and Hagi are in full bloom. It is on a hill and overlooks the Nara Basin.

Climbing the stone steps colored with camellia in the spring and Hagi in the fall, you will find a charming mountain gate. It is a temple with a panoramic view of Nara city. It was cloudy and I didn't have much time so I went home, but I think the sunset is beautiful. I came to see the five-colored camellia. It was a little early for the camellia, but it bloomed beautifully. I was able to see the Important Cultural Properties such as the Enmaza statue up close.
