★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 本塔は宝暦11年（1761）9月に日参講、塔婆講などを中心とする多くの信徒の助力によって建立されました。寄進者は700名を超え、石造框（かまち）の四周に刻まれています。寄進者は現在の台東区・千代田区・中央区・文京区・墨田区の範囲に広がり、中には札差の伊勢屋四郎左衛門等「十八大通」と呼ばれた人々や、俳優の中村鯉長、中村秀鶴等の名も見えます。このことから、本塔の造立は浅草寺を挙げた一大事業であったことが推測されます。
 The main pagoda was erected in September 1761 with the help of many believers, mainly attending the day and pagoda. There are more than 700 donors carved on the four laps of the stone stile. The donors are spread over the current Taito Ward, Chiyoda Ward, Chuo Ward, Bunkyo Ward, Sumida Ward, and some of them are people called "Juhachi Odori" such as Iseya Shirozaemon of the FCM, and actor Nakamura. You can also see names such as Koicho and Hidetsuru Nakamura. From this, it can be inferred that the construction of the main tower was a major project that included Sensoji Temple.

当時の技術力の高さと、江戸の人々の強い思いが伝わってくる仏塔でした。

安政2年（1855）の震災で被災し、破損したままとなっていましたが、明治40年（1907）、日露戦争凱旋記念のために再建されたそうです。
