★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 霊験あらたかな有玉神社は、地元の人々に愛され、近隣の企業様や各地区分担での清掃活動などもあって綺麗な状態が維持されています。
10月のお祭り(新嘗祭など)で賑わうこともあります。昔は流鏑馬なども行われていたそうです。今は年番で選ばれた人たちによって的当てがなされています。
地域の七五三なども行われ、子供達の元気な声が響くこともあります。

『遠江の伝説 小山枯紫編著』p210,211によると、803年坂上田村麿が息子俊光(当時海だった有玉の主、赤蛇との間に生まれた)とともに東夷(とうい)征伐に赴いた時、荒れた海を鎮めるために海に投じた玉(赤蛇がくれた玉。潮干玉)の沈んだ所を有玉といい、そこに社を建てて有珠の社としたそうだ。当神社のホームページを読むと御宝の所に玉の記述は無い(俊光の柄頭ならある)が、ご神徳の所に太古から珠が祀られていると言われてきたとは書かれている(それにちなみ、自動車のエンジン=珠という事で自動車関係の参拝者が増えてるとある)。
『遠江の伝説』には赤蛇が住んでいた場所を赤池と言ったとあり、google mapで調べると磐田市の天竜川の東岸に赤池という町があるのが確認できたので関係あるかもしれない。赤蛇の遺骸は浜松市天竜区二俣町鹿島の天竜川の淵に投げ込まれたとあり、その折に崖上に椎ヶ脇神社を建てたとの事だ。
