★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 荒井館跡は，市の東部にあり，七郷小学校の北東約400mに位置する。標高4m前後の自然堤防に立地する。面積は15,600㎡で東西155m，南北130mの範囲が遺跡に登録されている。延宝年間（1673～1680）に仙台藩の城跡や館跡についてまとめられた『仙台領古城書上』には古城として取上げられていないが，紫桃正隆氏が仙台領内の古城と考えられる遺跡をまとめた『史料 仙台領内古城・館 第四巻』(紫桃，1974)において館跡である可能性が指摘されて以来，遺跡として認識されている。荒井地区の土地区画整理事業に伴って遺跡の一部が調査され，時期不明の溝跡や土坑が発見されているが，館跡に関係する中世の遺構や遺物は発見されなかった。遺跡の性格の究明は今後の課題である。
 The site of Araikan is located in the eastern part of the city, about 400m northeast of Nanago Elementary School. It is located on a natural levee at an altitude of around 4m. The area is 15,600 m2, and the area of 155 m east-west and 130 m north-south is registered as an archaeological site. Although it is not mentioned as an old castle in "Sendai Ryo Kojo Shojo", which summarizes the castle ruins and pavilion ruins of the Sendai domain during the Enpo era (1673-1680), Mr. Masataka Shimomo describes the ruins that are considered to be old castles in Sendai territory. It has been recognized as an archaeological site since it was pointed out that it may be the site of a museum in the summarized "Historical Materials: Old Castle in Sendai Territory, Vol. 4" (Shimo, 1974). A part of the ruins was investigated along with the land readjustment project in the Arai area, and traces of ditches and pits of unknown time were found, but no medieval remains or relics related to the remains of the museum were found. Investigating the character of the ruins is a future task.
