I think the temple near Heijokyo is a little-known place. The mossy garden with a calm atmosphere is also wonderful. Moreover, it is free up to this point. However, the number of worshipers is decreasing in Corona now, so please take a look at the Buddha statue. I think the Buddha statues are worth an admission fee of 500 yen. Gigeiten is popular, but I thought Aizen Myo was beautiful.

It is a tasteful temple. It's not a big and flashy temple, but it has a dignified appearance and is very nice. It's nice that there are few people and it's calm. The highlights are the beautiful mossy courtyard and the Buddha statue that you can worship up close. In particular, the Gigeiten statue is a wonderful word. It is a rare Buddha statue that cannot be worshiped anywhere else.

Worship immediately after the end of the rainy season in July before summer vacation. It's hot, so Nara is vacant at this time of year. When you enter while wiping your sweat, you will find yourself in the precincts of the rainstorm. Coupled with the beautiful moss garden, it also feels cool. It was founded in the 7th year of Houki (776). It was originally built by a Buddhist priest of the Hosso sect, and is said to have been built as a temple of Mr. Akishino. It was a Jodo sect after the Meiji era, but now it is a stand-alone temple. The Gigeiten statue (Important Cultural Property) is especially famous. The scenery with moss on the ruins of the main hall of the national treasure, Kondo, is very beautiful.

It is a temple where you can feel the tranquility surrounded by beautiful moss-steamed forests. And here is Gigeiten, a very beautiful Buddha of Tenpyo. It is a temple that I would like to visit from time to time.

Each person has his or her own taste and perspective, but it seems that the presence of Gigeiten stands out among the Buddhas lined up in the main hall. The world that spreads through the mossy approach to the main hall and the softness of this Buddha match the name of Akishino-dera, and it is a temple where you can feel a gentle feeling for a while.

A lovely off-the-beaten-path spot. Well kept grounds, beautiful moss-filled ‘forest’, and impressive historic Buddhist statues in the main hall. No English signs or pamphlet.
