古くて長い石段は整備の不足が目立つ。
登っていくと質素な本殿が建っている。

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 桜町天皇の寛保元年（1741）8月、稲作病虫害に侵され成熟不良に陥った時、旧主伊達家では遠州秋葉神社に使いを立て、悪虫退散を祈願して効験著しかったので、各郡毎に四隅と中央とに5箇所へ宛てて勧請した。
郡最北の神社で気仙沼、新城村、月館村、赤岩村の4ヶ村の尊崇したところと伝えられる。

In August of 1741, Emperor Sakuracho was injured by rice cultivation and insect pests in August, when his maturity was poor. The request was made to five places in each corner and center of each county.
It is said to be the shrine in the northernmost part of the county, which was revered by four villages: Kesennuma, Shinshiro, Tsukidate, and Akaiwa.
