I went to this shrine because I'm a big Sailor Moon fan but stayed for a while because it was quiet and beautiful. The shrine priests working there are kind and helpful as well. If you have the time, go here. It's also extremely close to tokyo tower ? the cherry blossoms around here were also beautiful. It's secluded and a must see for anyone visiting tokyo.

I love this place. Annual Festival was soooo fun. I saw lots of guests from the Hotel nearby could join the Festival with locals! I was jealous.

Surrounded by trees, this shrine has a slightly more natural feel than that of Hie,a although it isn't quite as big or extravagant. Still a visit worth!

Beautiful shrine located in Tokyo. It was quiet even on the morning before a festival, but beautifully kept. A site of active worship, this is a nice location to experience a Shinto shrine.

I stumbled across this shrine while out exploring the Roppongi area. Great quiet place amongst the bustle of Tokyo. There were no other tourists and was a very serene site.

Very beautiful (for Tokyo standards) and nicely located. It was the personal shrine of the legendary Shogun Tokugawa Yoshimune. These days is under construction or something like that and it's full of noise and laborers.

This is a Shinto Shrine where the primary spiritual guardian of Akasaka is enshrined. The guardian protects against misfortune, gives peace and prosperity. People also prayed for good match. During our visit, there's a couple being blessed for their marriage. What a nice surprise to witness the ceremony.

A Japanese Shinto shrine in Asakasa, Tokyo. residential area for the rich citizens of Japan. Generally quiet and peaceful environment most of the time. If you are foreigner to visit here, look out for the old caretaker of this shrine. Unlucky me I had to face him, the look he gave at me was not normal, I could feel. He hesitated at first but then come to me and asked me that what was I looking for. I just didn't let my temper to come out, I told him in calm voice that I am a tourist and I am very curious about Shinto shrines, also I try to contribute as a local guide. The next sentence he threw towards me was also offensive. He told me to wash my hands before touching anything. I replied him loudly that I already did. He had nothing to do anymore, left the place with a sad face.
