この古墳は、公園整備事業に伴い、その景観を永久にとどめ、後世に伝えるため保存されている。
一部発掘調査は実施しているが、埋葬主体部といった主要な部分は未調査なため、詳細は不明である。
推定される古墳の規模は最大直径約47メートルの円形状で、内堀は南側が途切れ、「C」字形を呈している。
墳丘は葺石で覆われ、築造年代は古墳時代後期とされている。
周辺にも多くの古墳が確認されているが、赤堀33号墳は比較的にその規模が大きく、埋葬者は地域の名主的存在であった人物だと思われる。
 Located in Gomokushi Historic Site Park.
This burial mound has been preserved for the purpose of keeping the scenery forever and transmitting it to future generations, along with the park maintenance project.
Although some excavations have been carried out, the details are unknown because the major parts, such as the burial department, have not been investigated.
The estimated size of the burial mound is a circular shape with a maximum diameter of approximately 47 meters, and the inner moat has a "C" shape with a break on the south side.
The mounds are covered with thatched stone and the construction date is said to be in the late Kofun period.
Many burial mounds have been confirmed in the surrounding area, but the Akabori No. 33 burial mound is relatively large, and the burial person seems to have been a dominant figure in the area.
