調べたところ概要は下記の通り
養賢堂（ようけんどう）について
仙台藩の学問所として、元文元年（1736年）、5代藩主伊達吉村によって北三番丁と細横丁の西南角に設置され、宝暦10年（1760年）に7代藩主伊達重村が城下の中心部である勾当台（現宮城県庁所在地）に移転させました。安永元年（1772年）に「養賢堂」と名付けられました。
文化6年（1809年）に藩の儒学者、大槻平泉（おおつき・へいせん）が学頭（校長）に就任し発展、儒学や蘭学、兵学などを学ぶ、国内有数の規模を誇る藩校となりました。
威容を誇った講堂は、明治維新後は宮城県庁として使われましたが、昭和20年（1645年）の仙台空襲で惜しくも焼失しました。
