★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 笠寺観音の西、西方院を訪問した際、平成4年に笠覆寺発祥の地である観音塚(粕畑貝塚跡)から粕畑観世音大菩薩像が移された。という記述があったので訪問しました❗現在は壊されて跡形もなく、ハイガイを主体とする貝塚であったようです。昭和10年(1935年)に発掘調査され出土した土器は東海地方における縄文時代早期後半(6～7千年前)の代表的な土器形式で出土した地名にちなんで「粕畑式」と名付けられました。食物繊維が混ぜられ、貝殻ですじや刻み目がつけられていることが特徴の土器です。
