「琵琶湖哀歌」
昭和16年(1941年)発売
作詞 : 奥野椰子夫
作曲 : 菊池博
歌 : 東海林太郎と小笠原美都子
同年の琵琶湖遭難事故に哀悼を
込めた昭和の流行歌
1941年(昭和16年)04月06日
比良山脈から琵琶湖へと吹く
突風・比良おろし(比良八荒)が
原因と見られる遭難事故で
旧制第四高等学校(現・金沢大学)
漕艇部の部員11人が溺死した
現場の荻の浜(高島市勝野)には
この水難事故の慰霊碑として
「四高桜」が建立されている
神奈川県鎌倉市にも
七里ヶ浜哀歌(真白き富士の嶺)
という遭難事故の鎮魂歌を発祥
とし流行歌や映画にもなった
琵琶湖哀歌と混同されがちな
楽曲があり事故現場に近い
稲村ヶ崎に慰霊碑が立つ
琵琶湖哀歌は琵琶湖周航の歌に
旋律や詞が類似しているとの
事から周航歌の模倣が噂された
時代もあったというが
琵琶湖周航の歌資料館(今津町)
高島市役所ともに全く別の作品
との公式見解が示されている
堅田港港橋に歌碑が出来たのは
作詞家の奥野椰子夫氏が本堅田
出身であった事と捜索隊が堅田
から出た事に由来するとの事。
