御館(みたて)は、小田原城主北条氏康(ほうじょううじやす)に敗れ、越後に逃れた 関東管領上杉憲政(うえすぎのりまさ)のために上杉謙信(うえすぎけんしん)公が造営した館で、後に憲政から関東管領職を継いだ謙信公が 政庁としても使用したといわれています。
御館は、古い地籍図から二重の堀に囲まれた東西250メートル・南北300メートルの大規模な館であったと考えられています。東京ドームの1.6倍の大きさでした。中心の郭(くるわ)は、四方を堀で囲まれた東西120メートル・南北150メートルの規模で、ここ御館公園の6倍の大きさであったとされています。発掘調査が行われた40数年前に、越後の中世史を語る貴重な遺跡であることから、中心部分が「御館」の名を冠した公園として残されました。
少し足を伸ばしてJR線路まで出てみてください。右手の独立した山が春日山城です。

Mitate is a museum built by Kenshin Uesugi (Kenshin Uesugi) for Norimasa Uesugi, a Kanto territory who lost to Edo after losing to Odawara Castle owner Hojo Ujiyasu. It is said that Kenshin, who succeeded the Kanto administration from the constitution, later also used the government.
Odate is thought to have been a large-scale building 250 meters east-west and 300 meters north-south surrounded by double moats from the old cadastral map. It was 1.6 times the size of Tokyo Dome. The central gull (Kurwa) is 120 meters east-west and 150 meters north-south surrounded by moats on all sides, and is said to be six times as large as Odate Park here. Forty years before the excavation was carried out, the central part was left as a park bearing the name of "Odate" because it is a valuable archeological site that tells the medieval history of Echigo.

駐車場無し。路駐。

住宅街の公園に石碑と説明案内板が建っているのはありがたい。

遊具は滑り台のみ
シーソーは整備されていないため使えず、ブランコも取り外されていました。
ただ、敷地は広いので子どもが走り回るには良いかもしれません。
