吉	吉田博史 on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 神仏混交の時代を象徴するような仁王門そのものといったつくりの八脚門があるのは神社としては珍しい。近場では櫛引八幡宮にも立派な正門があるが、仁王門のつくりではない。この神社は義経北行伝説をただの伝説ではなくて事実として語らないと辻褄が合わないことがたくさんある。義経がもたらした八幡神を内蔵した毘沙門天像が本尊であった時代が長く、北方をまもるという毘沙門天（四天王の一、多聞天の別名）はまさに藩政期の八戸藩の北の護りにふさわしいものであったのだ。明治に入って廃仏毀釈の際に、本尊毘沙門天像に八幡神が内蔵されていることを採って八幡神（誉田別尊・ほむたわけのみこと）を祭神として八幡宮としたものである由。奥の院のように背後の森のなかに毘沙門堂があるが、この神社にお参りしたならば、同時に毘沙門天も参拝すべきであろう。仁王門には金剛力士ではなくて源氏ゆかりの武神が守りについている。 It is rare for a shrine to have an eight-legged gate, such as the Niomon itself, which symbolizes the era of mixed gods and Buddha. He lived on the west side of Takadate Mountain (it really is more of a hill) of the old village. The shrine despite being a Hachimangu Shrine, has a statue of Bishomonten and was brought to the shrine by Yoshitsune from Kurama in Kyoto.
