★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 朝顔は、明治に入るといったんは衰えたが、明治15年頃から大正初めにかけて、入谷田圃といわれた一帯に住んでいた植木屋によってひろく栽培されるようになった。坂本村入谷といわれた一帯には、丸新、松本、高野、植松、入又、入十、入久、新亀などの植木屋が軒を並べ、大輪のものや変り種を栽培し人気を集めた。全盛期の24年から25年頃には、早朝から往来止めとなるほどの賑わいを見せていた。
