★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 八尾南遺跡は羽曳野丘陵縁端に立地する縄文時代から鎌倉時代に亘る複合集落遺跡である。この遺跡の発掘調査で注目されるのは、古墳時代の掘立柱建物や竪穴式住居によって構成される村落・古墳 方形周溝墓および畦畔や足跡の遺る水田跡等である。出土品のなかには、古代王権の象徴である玉杖を模した木製の儀杖や、朝鮮半島の影響を強く受けた韓式系の土器などがあり、古墳時代の河内国を考える上で重要な内容を持った遺跡である。【出典：『史跡の道・説明石板』（八尾郷土文化推進協議会・八尾菊花ライオンズクラブ・八尾市教育委員会、1984年）】
 The Yao Minami Site is a complex settlement site located at the edge of the Habikino Hills from the Jomon period to the Kamakura period. In the excavation survey of this site, attention is paid to the burial mounds, square-shaped tombs, and paddy fields with ridges and footprints, which are composed of pit-houses and pit-houses. Among the excavated items, there are wooden canes that imitate the ball cane, which is a symbol of the ancient kingship, and Korean-style pottery that was strongly influenced by the Korean Peninsula. ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 弥生時代後期の住居と生産域からなる集落の跡が残っている。
文献によると八尾遺跡と長原遺跡が有るが同じ村だったようだ。
この周辺は近畿道建設時に多くの遺跡が発掘された事は記憶に新しい。
There are traces of a village consisting of residences and production areas in the late Yayoi period.
According to the literature, there are Yao ruins and Nagahara ruins, but it seems that they were the same village.
It is fresh in my memory that many archaeological sites were excavated around this area when the Kinki Expressway was constructed.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 昭和５５年に開設された、大阪メトロ谷町線八尾南駅。その駅舎近くに建てられた碑で、遺跡自体はここでは見ることが出来ません。
この付近では、稲作に適した地形であったためか、はるか弥生～古墳時代からの複合住居遺構や、古墳が多く見つかっています。
Yaominami Station on the Osaka Metro Tanimachi Line, opened in 1980. It is a monument built near the station building, and the ruins themselves cannot be seen here.
In this area, probably because the terrain was suitable for rice cultivation, many remains of complex dwellings from the Yayoi-Kofun period and old burial mounds have been found.
