★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 江戸中期の大和川付け替え工事で河内平野は命をつないだが、反面旧大和川の流域には灌漑用水が不足、枯渇するところが出てきた。
特にその年、この地域は大旱魃に見舞われた。
農民の困苦を見るに忍びなかった庄屋の西村は独断で新大和川に水路（樋）を開け、稲田に水を引き入れ、危急を脱した。
しかし幕府に許可得ることなく水路を開けた西村は大坂城内で斬死、家財は没収、一家断絶の憂目にあう。
後世、彼の勇気に感謝した人々は、顕彰碑を建て、彼を讃えた......と説明欄にある。
今、碑の周りは鉄柵で囲まれ、まじかで見ることができない。
勇者である彼のためにも残念だと思う。
 Although the Kawachi Plain was killed by the replacement work of the Yamato River in the middle of the Edo period, there was a shortage of irrigation water in the basin of the former Yamato River, and there was a depletion area.
Especially that year, the region was hit by a drought.
Nishimura, a shoya, who couldn't resist the plight of the peasants opened a channel (gutter) in the Shin-Yamato River, and drew water into the rice fields to escape the emergency.
However, Nishimura, who opened the waterway without obtaining permission from the shogunate, was killed in Osaka Castle, his property confiscated, and his family was cut off.
In the posterity, those who thanked him for his courage built a monument and praised him ... in the description.
Now, the monument is surrounded by an iron fence and cannot be seen directly.
I think it's a shame for him as a hero.

市郎右衛門さんは後者。
当時21の農村の田畑を潤せば、いったい何百人の命が救えただろう？
