It is a branch castle of Mr. Miura who was active in the Kamakura period, which is not well known. At that time, the sea was in front of me, and it was a castle that was not easily attacked by the invasion of enemies. It's relatively well maintained and it's nice to see it. However, in some places, trees have fallen due to the effects of typhoons, which is dangerous. The view from here is nice with a panoramic view of Kurihama.

The ruins of a castle in Yokosuka City. The steep stairs remind us of Yamashiro at that time. There are plenty of information boards, and you can learn about the history of the area.

20210220 I went for a leisurely walk around JR Kurihama Station!
The ups and downs of Yokosuka were unexpectedly intense, and the Leopalace that came over was also on a small slope!
The next hill seems to be "shell mound" and "castle ruins", so after finishing the housework, "walk around!"
Well, it's hard to understand the entrance!
Almost one lap, there is a slope like the entrance to the back mountain of a private house!
The atmosphere of going to a park that you wouldn't know if you had to call it a shell mound.
There are signboards for explanation here and there.
It's in the mountains, so just taking a walk will be a little exercise.
Even though it's February, I'm sweating ... ?
The area around the mountain where the Keihin Kyuko substation is located is the Yoshii shell mound!
In 1960, an archaeological excavation was conducted prior to the construction of the substation.
From here, earthenware, stone tools or bone tools, and dwelling sites from the early Jomon period (about 8000 years ago) to the late Kofun period (about 1400 years ago) were excavated. It is very valuable to know the fishing method of the people of Japan, and it is a designated historic site of the prefecture as one of the leading archaeological sites in the prefecture!
In addition, this mountain is also the site of the Miura clan's navy base, Numata Castle (Numata Castle) during the Kamakura period, and the area where the ship was placed remains under the name "Funakura"!
It is said that it is a branch castle of Mr. Miura who was active in the Kamakura period, which is not well known!
At that time, the sea was in front of me, and it was a castle that could not be easily attacked by enemy invasion!
It's relatively well maintained and it's nice to see it, but there's only a faint Karahori left!

It is the castle of Miura, the champion of the Miura Peninsula during the Kamakura period. Also known as Numata Castle. Mr. Miura was based in castles such as Kinukasa Castle (Yokosuka City), Sahara Castle (hereinafter referred to as the same city), Otawa Castle, Ashina Castle, and Tsukuikan. In addition, the Miura Party had a strong cohesiveness. In the Kinugasa battle, Yoshiaki Miura and others who were trapped in Kinugasa castle fought hard, but the castle fell. At that time, there was a place where the boat was hidden in order to secretly pass through the castle and escape to the Boso Peninsula, so there is a place named Funakura near the castle. The remains include earthworks, cliffs, and Kuruwa. It seems that there was an empty digging, but it was buried. It is also said that Yoshii Shell Mound was in the same position. The view is good. It's very difficult to understand and it's hard to go. Therefore, it is recommended to go around with a nearby castle.
