Entered at the same time as the store opened on weekdays. There were two other groups. There are no menus or information at the storefront, and the appearance of a long-established store makes it difficult for you to enter, but thanks to word of mouth, you can now enter these stores without hesitation. It was my first visit to the store, but as the word of mouth says, the clerk kindly taught me. There is also a counter seat, so it is easy for one person to enter. In addition, there are two curtains, but you can enter from the person who says "doorway" on the door. In the daytime, all tempura and sashimi seem to come with "rice, miso soup, and pickles" as a set. Free refills of rice. It was said that tempura is about 1500 yen for one person (even if it is only vegetables), and sashimi varies depending on the type, but about 2000 yen. This time I ordered tempura + yellowtail + taro + fish ball soup. It was said that taro would take about 15 minutes. First of all, the fish ball soup is served. I imagined a light taste, but I felt the salty taste quite firmly. Not to mention the soup stock, the fish balls were also delicious. Next, the first sashimi is served. It was delicious without rumor! The price is high, but if you like sashimi, please try something! The main tempura is served. To put it in an extreme way, it feels like eating fried food in thin clothes. Even so, it was the first time I could fully enjoy the flavor of sesame oil and the taste of the ingredients. I was surprised that pumpkins and carrots were cut very thickly. Of course, the seafood was delicious, the shrimp was soup stock, and the shrimp's head was awesome! It feels very light in terms of oil and you can enjoy it without leaning to the end. Isn't it okay for people with weak stomachs? Miso soup was very delicious with the taste of arajiru. The rice is also deliciously cooked. What is free refill with this? The taro came out last. Peel the skin and serve with salt and wasabi. I've probably only eaten taro in simmered dishes, but I didn't know that salt and wasabi are such good ingredients. Everything was delicious. There were quite a few visitors while I was in the store, but it wasn't full at 12 o'clock when I left the store. When I entered the store, I was asked "Are you a reservation?" And the phone was ringing, so I guess there are many reservations. I took a picture of the black phone I saw after a long time. It was a treat.

The best Tempura experience ever even as a Japanese. Though the prices are not shown on the menus, they are very fairly priced, even cheaper given such a quality food not limited to Tempura but also Sashimi and many others.

Excellent Tempura restaurant, that also serves a variety of fresh fishes and other Japanese cuisine dishes . Can be very crowdy on lunch time and reservation is preferable. Offers smoking and nonsmoking sections. Nice hospitality. A former Japanese "Minka" style house.

I came to Yokohama on a visit to Japan. My friends and I needed a place to eat dinner and I happened to find this place on google. It's a small hole in the wall tempura restaurant off an alleyway/side street. Upon entering we were immediately seated. One of the waiters spoke just enough english. We asked to have a mix of everything or chefs choice. THE FOOD WAS SO GOOD. The pieces of sashimi were enormous and SO FRESH. The tempura, perfectly fried. They treated us excellently. There was much laughter and a very nice atmosphere. I highly recommend this place.

The kind of dining experience you would love if you like traditional establishments where locals frequent and grew up with. Tempura and sashimi being the main items on the handwritten menu (updated daily), we also ordered the tsumire soup which was a comforting fish broth perfect for a chilly autumn evening. Service was a tad hesitant at first, perhaps because we were tourists with a toddler seated at the counter in the smoking section, but after learning that we could communicate, the staff visibly relaxed and everyone was smiling by the end of the meal. Toraya is obviously a local favourite, judging by how happily the neighbouring salaryman started describing the restaurant's history, that he had grown up eating the tempura and that the menu hadn't changed much in 30 years! The batter was not as flaky as most other tempura, but just as crispy and fresh. Even though the fragrance of sesame oil hits your nostrils as you approach the restaurant, the tempura itself hardly bore any traces of it. Prices were reasonable as well - 5616 for a hearty meal for 3. Would recommend to anyone with a liking for traditional establishments that exude a real "feel" and local atmosphere.

Maitake tempura was very good. There are no prices on the menu but the average cost per person without drinks for lunch is about ¥2,000
