昭和8(1933)年1月25日開業。
昭和58(1983)年8月に無人化。
平成24(2012)10月に新駅舎竣工。
駅舎と待合室ともに洒落たデザインでとても居心地がよい。緑色の駅舎の外観は周辺の田園風景に合わせているのだろうか。
用土駅は大里郡用土村に因んで名付けられた。
八高線は正式には八王子～倉賀野を結ぶ路線だが、列車は全て高崎駅まで乗り入れる。またこの路線は現在八王子から終点までの通し運行は無い。全て途中の高麗川駅で乗り換えるシステムになっている。これは八王子～高麗川間は電化されているからではないだろうか。また電化されているので川越線にも乗り入れて、八王子～高麗川～川越の電車が殆どである。

Yodo Station is named after Osato-gun Yodo Village.
The Hachiko Line officially connects Hachioji and Kuragano, but all trains run to Takasaki Station. In addition, this line does not currently run from Hachioji to the end point. The system is such that you can change trains at Koraikawa Station on the way. This may be because the section between Hachioji and Korai River is electrified. Also, since it is electrified, you can also get on the Kawagoe Line, and most of the trains are from Hachioji to Koraigawa to Kawagoe.
