★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Omiya Hachiman Shrine is a must see. Almost 1000 years of history stretching back into the mists of mythology. Mothers and grandmas bring new borns to pray for health and good lives, and leave their wishes on wooden emma tablets.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A lovely, quiet and relaxing park stretching along the stream. I had the opportunity to see the last of the cherry blossoms before sakura season was fully over and it was a beautiful sight to see pink petals adorning each side of the stream path.
The pond in the middle of the park was nice for viewing of fish, tortoises and a variety of local birds. Mostly people seem to be relaxing and enjoying the greenery with a few sitting down to sketch the patches of yellow irises dotted along the pond.
