岡	岡ちゃん on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 山号を金剛山と称し、不動明王を本尊とする真言宗智山派の寺院で、大日堂は、平安時代初期に弘法大師ゆかりの大日如来像を安置するために建てられたと云われています。現在の大日堂は、昭和7(1932)年に弘法大師一千百年御遠忌を記念し再建され、安房国八十八箇所弘法大師霊場の53番札所になっています。大日堂の欄間には『波の伊八』と呼ばれ、葛飾北斎の作品に影響を与えたとされる宮彫師の『武志伊八郎信由』が28才の時に彫ったという『向拝の竜』の彫刻が残されており、大日堂内の『酒仙の図(しゅせんのず)』と併せて『金乗院大日堂の彫刻』として鴨川市の有形文化財に指定されています。古くは金乗院の現在位置に金山城の処刑場があったと云われているようです。房総スカイラインからスロープを上った右側に駐車場あります。近く(南へ約100m)の『波の伊八生誕地』とセットで参詣しました。 It is said that the mountain name is Mt.Kumgang, and it is a temple of the Shingon Buddhism Chichi sect whose main priest is Fudo Myo.
