ここにある五十嵐神社は　江戸時代　森藩が4代めが後継者を決めず急死したため　幕府の鳥つぶしにあった後　土岐氏が大阪城台になった時　加増され　この地に領地を持つことになった。沼田藩の支配は過酷な年貢の徴収がある中　飢饉が遅い　領民は沼田藩の海内にある代官所の五十嵐十九郎にこの惨事の救済を求めた。彼は　何とかしたいと本国に惨状を訴えたが　遠く離れたこの地のことは理解されず　農民を思った彼は独断で　300両の大金を救済に当てた。その責任の責任を追及され　自刃したと　伝わっていた。彼の命100年目の命日にあたると思われる日に　この地の住民が　神社を建立したと。200年目にも　その功績を石碑にしたため　永久に残している。このことを調べてみると　自刃したこと　年代　経緯は多少違っていることが判明し　その経緯は　美作町史地区紙片に詳しく書いてある。ここは　昭和549年までそんざいしていた　豊国小学校の遠足地の一つであった。数年前までは　見晴らしもよかったが　周りの木立が大きくなって見晴らしが悪くなったのが・・・評価の下がるところである。ここの広場は　毎年　豊国地区の人々が力を合わせ　草刈りなど管理している。
