When you are travelling to Nagano, Nagasaki, Hiroshima, Miyajima, Saijo, Osaka, Tokyo or any towns or cities in Japan, you will never, ever, missed its ubiquitous bento boxes. They are sold in supermarkets, restaurants, food courts, and train station kiosks. There are many types of bento, such as seafood, sushi, beef, chicken, pork, unagi - fresh water eel, and anago - sea eel. A normal bento would cost $10, unagi - $16 and anago - $28 or more, in any supermarkets During my 5 weeks travel, I tasted and ate them all. I loved them. Be adventurous and try them. You will not regret it.

Staff were really helpful and kindly assisted me in sorting through all the excess change I had accumulated to pay. Items were very portable, reasonably fresh, and easy to eat while on the bullet train. Definitely worth stopping here for a portable lunch!
