★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Toho cinema in general is the best known cinema here in japan but its a little pricey as much as 1800 per ticket. This particular cinema is nice and has a good view of tokyo as well as big screens. Its within a shopping complex so this is great if you finish shopping and want to relax for a bit. They do have english subs on most showings so dont worry.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I used to dislike going to movies because movie goers are generally very impolite in America and the theaters are often old and decrepit. Toho Cinemas is the complete opposite and I absolutely treasure my time when I am able to go see a movie here. Thankfully American movies still have English audio with Japanese subtitles so it also presents a valuable opportunity to practice learning my Japanese.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Toho Cinemas Ueno is very close to subway/train Okachimachi station. It’s also walkable from Ueno station, which is very famous as a tourist spot. The cinema is on the top of department store Parco, shopping before or after movie is also a good option. Maybe due to the convenience, it's usually crowded on the weekend or in the evening.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It was a hot day, about 31C out. Decided to cool down. Watched "Solo". This was the first time I watched a movie in Japan. Didn't know the time schedule of the movie, got there at 640pm and was able to watch the 6:55pm. Used the machine to buy ticket. It was easy. Ticket was ¥1800.
The seats was very comfortable. But the sound system wasn't that great

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Excellent COVID-19 protection measures in place. Staffs were all very professional.
I saw a guy being told by the staff to put his mask back on after snacking. You are also only allowed to eat during (not before) the movie (to prevent talking). Disinfectant for your seat arm rest at the ticket gate.
