ハイキングや登山には、とんと縁がない自分、役行者の追っかけとしてはいつかはお参りに来なくてはとかねがね引っかかっていたので遂に実行、なれない登山でくったくたになりながら2時間15分掛けて転法輪寺域内の役行者堂に到着。役小角さんやってきました。引っかかりがちょっぴり取れた気がしてスッキリ。金剛山の登拝回数が書かれた縦看板を見て腰がぬけたよ、千回、5千回、1万回嘘だろ、こんな大変なお山にそんなにも登るとは、、役行者だらけってことかな、
それにしても、役行者様が16歳の時に修行し感得した「法起菩薩(ほうきぼさつ)」を祀ってあるのでしょ。。「おんぎゃくぎゃくえんのううばそくあらんぎゃそわか 合掌」

役小角霊蹟札所。
また、この地には行基、鑑真、最澄も訪れているという。
金剛山の頂上には葛木神社があり、雄略天皇の猪狩をしたと伝わる矢刺神社もある。
神仏習合の霊山だったが、明治の廃仏毀釈で転法輪寺は廃寺となったが、その後、戦後に再興された。
