杉木の中に「太郎天神」と呼ばれている神社があります。
安永3年（1775年）地元の肝入（区長のような役職）が書いた風土記御用書出によると、「村の鎮守として現在の場所に鎮座している」と書かれていますが、もとは留ヶ谷に古くから居住する桜井家の内神であったそうです。
この天神がいつから現在の場所に遷座され、村の鎮守となったのかは明らかでありません。
風土記には、周りが約4.3mと約3.8mの杉の巨木が生えていると記載されていますが、現在は見ることができません。これに変わる樹木として、シイの木があります。

There is a shrine called "Taro Tenjin" in Sugiki.
According to the Fudoki memorandum written by the local Tomegaya (a position like the ward mayor) in 1775, it says, "I am enshrined at the current location as a guardian of the village." Is said to have been the inner god of the Sakurai family who has lived in Tomegaya for a long time.
It is not clear when this Tenjin was relocated to its current location and became the guardian of the village.
Fudoki states that giant cedar trees with a circumference of about 4.3 m and about 3.8 m are growing, but they cannot be seen at present. An alternative tree is the castanopsis tree.
