★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Fantastic intimate setting, great explanations and beautiful tea. Not only did we get to observe the ceremony and learn about its history but also had the pleasure of getting to make our own cup (under direction).
Hisa was wonderful and her English was fluent plus the decore, china, utensils and ingredients were all of such quality we could have been whisked back in time.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Everyone was very friendly. Our hostess was very thorough with explaining everything. Loved being able to pick your own cup and learn about this fantastic Japanese tradition. We had a great time and felt very comfortable and happy with everything. If you are super inflexible they will accommodate you with a small chair, so don't worry!

The experience was beautiful and created a memory that will be cherished for my entire life. If ever in Kyoto this is a must try experience!!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Our group of 7 happened upon this place on a whim while in Kyoto with no reservation. The owner and tea master was so friendly and accommodating. She quickly cleaned up from the previous group and set everything up for us. She explained the origin of tea and the delicate process to us in detail. After we each made 2 cups of tea following her instructions. It was a highlight for our group, thank-you from Canada!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We did a tea ceremony here and it was a wonderful experience. The lady that was the Tea Master was super kind and friendly, and she explained every single aspect and step. She also taught us how to make the Matcha tea properly. The tea was really good, and the little sweets they gave us were tasty and new to us. We had a very nice time - peaceful and relaxed. We would totally do it again (and we will for sure if we come back to Kyoto!). Totally recommended.
