I'm surprised at the big rock There is a little walking from the roadside station, but if you enter from the information board near the traffic light, it will be a narrow road, but there is a place where you can park about 10 sands at the base of the bridge. 2021 12 10

It is a place where you can feel the grandeur of the earth. The uplifted rock was bigger than I had imagined and was a masterpiece. The sea ? is also clear and very beautiful! In the summer, you will want to play in the water to your heart's content. The parking lot was not particularly paved. Is it possible to park about 10 cars? In any case, you should definitely visit when you come nearby.

This Tateiwa is a huge rock consisting of columnar joints. It is not only the landscape that is fascinated by this Tateiwa. I think it was also the symbol mark of the Tango Kingdom in ancient times. It is located in the Sea of Japan where the Takeno River flows. There is the Onaru Ancient Burial Mounds in the immediate vicinity. Columnar joint stones of basalt are also used in the stone chambers of the tumulus. I remember Takenohime at the nearby Takeno Shrine. From the downstream terrain, it prospered as an ancient port and was the base of an ancient nation. I am impressed by the background and landscape.

Interesting structure, even better if you climb your way around, but the area around it is full of rubbish, such a shame

Tateiwa as a part of Geo Park : There is a legend of an ancient Emperial prince of Japan regarding this Tachiiwa. According to the story three evil demons called Oni were exterminated by prince Maroko ( Shotoku Taishi in his childhood ) sealed into this rock with his mother ( Hashiudo ). ( Shotoku Taishi ) is the very first Emperor of Japan and the one introduced Buddhist way of life to Japan. Two demons were killed and one was sealed into this rock to show the example for their evel doings. The rock stands as tall as 20 meters formed with basalt. To this day you can hear the sound of demon crying around the rock on windy nights. There is a monumental statues of Empress and the prince next to the beach side of this park offering protection of the sea. The location of this place is west of Byobu Rocks. You can also observe some ancient remains of burial mounds around the coast of this area called Geo Park. There is a road station of Tenki-tenki Tango as well as historical museum of this area nearby. You might want to stop by for some souvenir shopping and some learning experience.
