★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Long line but full of locals i.e. indication that the place is worth the wait, expect around an hour of wait time during peak hour. Homely atmosphere, food is very well presented although the price is up there for an oyakodon dish. The taste is definitely original but I would not say that it is to my liking.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The presentation of the Oyakodon sets was beautiful. You will also be served a cup of chicken broth while waiting for the food. I personally found it tasty, with the chicken flavour shining through. Lines started forming about an hour before they opened when we visited. Service is excellent as expected.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We waited 20 mins in the morning to get in. Remember not to block the restaurant next door while you are waiting in line! I had the basic donburi and my friend had the Y2000 one. The meal includes a cup of chicken soup that I quite like. However, the donburi itself is just "meh". Even the donburi from Sukiya has more flavors. Maybe I am just not used to "high quality food", but I'm sure that this is not Y1000 better than the cheap one you can find all over Japan.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The most traditional Japanese restaurant I've ever been in, staff was attentive and friendly too. Tho I think the taste of the food was unfortunately just above mediocre I still find it hard to justify the taste of the food with the prices as they are quite expensive. The only thing I like the most about this restaurant is its atmosphere and environment, and the place is cool and sparkling clean!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Chicken Liver version was delicious. Meat was cooked perfectly, springy and tender while the liver was meltingly smooth and was embodied with cooking liquor. absolutely gorgeous.
However, I find that the whole dish seems to wet;one dimensional texture. This might be the traditional way of cooking but I thought it should improve to suit the modern palate nowadays. Still delicious though....

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A restaurant that has true history in Japan! Known for their Oyakodon (chicken and egg rice bowl) that has been a staple dish since 1760..that's 260 years!! When you arrive, there's a line outside before it even opens although it goes by quite quickly. Once inside, you'll need to take off your shoes and the lady will give you a number to take since it's paired with your shoes. Afterwards, you'll head to a very small window and order and pay for your food. That lady will give you a small ticket to give to the server (the lady who guides you to your seat).
If you're like me, I came alone so I said with random strangers. Be careful though because the tables are very low and your legs go inside of this lower hole in the ground.
Once the food arrives, you're greeted with chicken broth and tea along with your meal. The birth was amazing and I wished there was refills like the beef broths from Korean restaurants. The meal itself was great and the chicken was extremely soft. The egg was fluffy and runny; made it even enjoyable. Honestly it was the best Oyakodon I've tasted whether in Japan or in LA and I'd definitely come back for more in the future.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Overpriced and overrated but the atmosphere is traditional and nice. Go once to say you’ve been there but I wouldn’t go a second time.
They first serve some tea and chicken soup. The oyakodon itself isnt that much food so you can still get other popular desserts in the area.
