Small shrine hidden right by the blue bridge to Yokohama. Has an a very pretty overlook to see the bridge, river and the TY line. You can also see the Marukobashi park across from the river. The shrine sells all your typical prayers for donation but they also have a Shin Godzilla banner and prayer for sale. Makes for a nice gift. 2,000 yen for the pray, 1,200 yen for the banner. Nice to stop by if you're at the Tamagawa station (4-5 min walk)

An interesting shrine with amazing views over the Tamagawa river. The stamp is also pretty unique, definitely worth checking out.

A Japanese friend sent me a photo of Asama Shrine in Tokyo. It seems that there are many chapels in Tokyo.

Sengen Shrine is a beautifully preserved, must-see landmark in the Tamagawa area. Overlooking the Maruko Bridge, you can see Mt. Fuji on clear days. The shrine itself offers a full range of ceremonial services for life events. In the summer you can enjoy the annual fireworks display from the concrete open space adjacent to the main grounds. #tamagawa

Tamagawa Sengen shrine is said to have been built eight hundred years ago. When Minamoto no Yoritomo went to battle, his wife, Masako, worried about him, went looking for him, but was forced to abandon her journey due to a wounded foot. She decided to get treatment close to Tamagawa river and visited Sengen Shrine to pray for eternal luck on the battlefield for her husband. She then built the statue of a bodhisattva called Fuji Sengen Daibosatsu Bodhisattva by the villagers and was long respected and worshiped. This became the origin of Tamagawa Sengen Shrine. Four hundred years later, in 1652, at the time of construction of the pass to Sengen Shrine, the Chinese copper statue of Daibosatsu Bodhisattva was excavated under the 9th station of Mt. Fuji. It was cleaned at the Tamagawa River and enshrined. Since then, the Tamagawa Sengen Shrine holds an annual ritual to celebrate it.

I found this shrine by accident while exploring the neighborhood from Fruits Basket, and its awesome! Coincidentally, its near a bridge that Godzilla destroyed in one of his movies, and so they sell godzilla- themed shrine plaques! I strongly recommend checking it out if you're nearby! ^^

It’s beautiful shrine with a view of Musashikosugi skyline ? & Mt. Fuji ? Shinkansen tracks, Metro lines & Tamagawa river can be seen too. Surrounded in the peaceful neighborhood. Slope is not so inclined. Highly recommended to come here in the evening to catch a glimpse of night view. Parking facility available in the shrine!
