何かいいことがあった時に自分へのご褒美としてひとつだけ買います。
「みかも山」は栃木県の南端ある山で、万葉集にも詠まれています。
“下野のみかもの山の小楢（こなら）のすまぐはし児ろは誰が笥（たがけ）か持たむ”
口語に訳すとこんな感じです。
下野の国のみかも山にあるコナラの木のようにかわいらしい娘は、だれと結婚するのかな？
和菓子「みかも山」は、一般のどら焼きよりキメが細かくしっとりしています。
生地を割ると黒糖とハチミツのいい香り。
あどけない女の子と重なります。
甘味を抑えた上品さに、万葉の名もない人々のこころが伝っわってくるのです。
多くの手間をかけて丁寧に作られたこの「みかも山」
私はこれを食べる時、いつも遠い奈良時代の暖かい命たちに癒されるのです。
