★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Enormous complex in the opposite direction of the Nara Park. Worth the visit if you already visited Nara and you would like to see how a palace complex would have been. Is quite big, so you will spend an hour or so just walking between buildings.
We visited it during the "spring matsuri" and it was a little bit disappointing... It looked like a hipster food trucks fair rather than a proper matsuri.
