一般的な天神様や菅原神社と違い、菅原道真以外に、豊島氏の祖先である豊島太郎近義が祀られています。
ただ、御神徳は学業成就が筆頭に来ており、豊島氏特有の物を感じることはできませんでしたが…この神社が豊島氏の平塚城に由来することを感じさせられる社の一つです。
小さなお社ですが、龍の彫刻や瓦屋根が見事で、ミニチュアの美という物を感じさせられます。
