★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 尾張緒川城（現在の知多郡東浦町）主だった水野貞守（みずの さだもり）が文明年間（１４６９～８７）頃に築いた城といわれます。貞守の死後、数代後に水野忠政がこの地から城を移したのが刈谷城です。
刈谷古城の現状は畑地で城の遺構は残っていませんが、西（緒川城があった知多郡東浦町）側はかつて海になっており、高台つまり崖の上にあった城ということがよく分かります。
この城址を偲ぶものは高低差くらいです。ちなみにこの水野氏から徳川家康の生母・於大の方が出ています。

Kariya Castle was the place where Tadamasa Mizuno moved the castle from this place several generations after Sadamori's death.
The current state of Kariya old castle is a field and there are no remains of the castle, but the west side (Higashiura Town, Chita District, where Ogawa Castle was located) was once the sea, and it is said that the castle was on a hill, that is, on a cliff. I understand well.
The only thing that remembers this castle ruins is the height difference. By the way, Mr. Mizuno is the mother of Ieyasu Tokugawa, Odai.
