★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 明治二十二年（1889）町村制施行に伴い、吾妻郡草津、前口、小雨、赤岩、生須、太子、日影、入山の八箇村が合併し、草津村となりました。
明治三十三年（1900）草津村のうち、小雨、赤岩、生須、太子、日影、入山が六合村として分立しました。
平成二十二年（2010）同郡中之条町と合併しています。
日影地区は白砂川右岸に位置する地域で、白砂川を境に東側を赤岩地区と接しています。旧・六合村を構成する赤岩・日影・小雨・生須・太子・入山の大字のひとつでした。
「六合」を「くに」と読む由来は、古事記上巻序文に「乾符を握って六合を総べ」、日本書紀の神武天皇即位のくだりに「六合を兼ねて以って都を開き」とあり、「六合」とは天地と東西南北、すなわち支配の及ぶ範囲「国」を表すことから、「六合」を「くに」と読んでいます。

国道292号線「白砂渓谷ライン」東側の斜面にある小さな神社には、神社名が書かれた額や案内板が無かったため正式な名称は分かりませんでしたが、地域の神社として現在まで祀られ続けていることは確かで、社殿内にある名簿には「中組神社」と書かれていました。

The small shrine on the eastern slope of National Highway 292 “White Sand Valley Line” did not have the official name because there was no forehead or signboard with the shrine's name written on it, but it has been enshrined as a local shrine to date. The list inside the shrine says "Nakagumi Shrine".
