開創は文明七年(1475年)に村上市門前の耕雲寺第五世の徳嶽宗欽大和尚が荒廃していた寺を復興して諸上寺とされました。
それ以前は天台宗の感應寺とう寺で1300年頃にはあったと伝えられております。
しかし、諸上寺になって後、法燈を継ぐ争いなどがあり寺運が衰退していたのを、天正元年 (1573年 ) に時の村上藩主本庄繁長が耕雲寺第十三世巖室文松大和尚を開山に招いて再興地れて現在に至っております。

あまりよく見ませんでしたが花が咲き誇る庭園が素晴らしいです。

お寺好きな方❗今行って見てください‼️
なぜなら✋今本堂の屋根の葺き換えをしてました❗ あんな大きな、まるでスキーのジャンプ台みたいな角度の屋根?そこに鉄パイプで足場を組んで、瓦を外した所を職人さんがヘラみたいなのでガリガリと下地を剥がしてました? そうゆう作業なんてそうそう見られませんよ✨ もちろんお寺も立派で良い感じなので、瓦の葺き換えが終わったらまた行ってみたいです✨✨✨
