I love the stone steps on the approach to Dewa Sanzan Shrine and the Bodaitei Steps at Kuonji Temple in Minobu, but the approach here was more painful than ever. Most shrines and temples have a parking lot near the main hall and can be shortcut by car, but all worshipers are challenged because the approach to the shrine is closed to vehicles except for those involved in the temple. The real value of this temple lies in the sitting statue of Yakushi Nyorai, a national treasure that can be seen by making a reservation from a week in advance. The sitting statue is stored in the treasure hall, but it looks solemn because it is enshrined on a neatly arranged Suyadan instead of a dry exhibition stand. It is a blissful time to relax and appreciate the national treasure Buddha while enjoying the sweets and tea recommended by the temple. If it rains and snows, the steep approach will become even more slippery, and depending on the weather, you will have to give up watching. Although the hurdles are high, it is a temple that is worth visiting. From the observatory in the precincts, you can see the view of the Kawachi Plain (again, depending on the weather), and the huge stones are also spectacular. After climbing a steep slope, there is a free parking lot beside the observatory. The road is narrow, so it seems difficult to come to an oncoming car (laughs) You can drive beyond the observatory, but in principle, only those involved in the temple. Be sure to park at the observatory parking lot. About 15 minutes on foot from there, I arrived in front of the main hall. By the way, when I visited, I walked from Keihan Railway Kawachimori Station. It took about 60 minutes, but it was a light hike in the woods. The climb was steep, but ... As an aside, there is no vending machine around Keihan Railway Kawachimori Station. If you walk to JR Kawachi Iwafune Station for a few minutes, you will find a convenience store. The area around the main hall is not so large. There were many benches, and thankfully there was even an ashtray. kind! !! There is a building enshrining the national treasure Yakushi Kannon in the back past the main hall, but reservations are required in advance. Please be careful. The farther I could see Mt. Rokko from the observation spot in front of the toilet, the more I could see the northern part of the Osaka Plain. If the weather is nice, you can see Akashi Ohashi Bridge. From the left side of the main hall, there is a mountain trail heading toward Kurondo Pond. The entire mountain is the precincts of the temple, so it was a mountain pass, but it was carefully maintained. The huge stones in the mountains are also a large temple with lots of highlights.
