★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 元は、現在の田端中学校の敷地付近にあったという。そして、この神社の少し離れた畑の中に「争いの杉」と呼ばれる大木があったらしい。
なんでも鎌倉時代。奥州平泉の義経討伐に向かう途中の畠山重忠とその家来がこれを見て、「松の木だ」「いや、杉の木だ」という言い争いが起きたという伝承から来ているという。下らないが遠くから見ると松の木に見えたらしいとか。
また、この大木は太田道灌の三角屋敷(三岳屋敷)にあり、「太田道灌の争いの杉である」と述べる記録があるのだそうだ(何の争いかは分からないが現地案内板にその様にある)。
いずれにせよ、伝承のある境内社であることは間違いなさそうだ。

Everything was in the Kamakura period. It is said that Shigetada Hatakeyama and his servants on the way to subdue Yoshitsune in Hiraizumi, Oshu, saw this and argued that it was a pine tree and no, it was a cedar tree. It doesn't go down, but it looks like a pine tree when viewed from a distance.
In addition, this big tree is located in Ota Dokan's triangular mansion (Mitake mansion), and there is a record stating that it is "the cedar of the Ota Dokan fight" (I don't know what the fight is, but the local information board says so. It is in).
In any case, there is no doubt that it is a precinct company with a tradition.
