上流からの流れをお隣の大白川ダムと白水滝に振り分ける水門の様な働きをしているダム。
道路が閉鎖される冬期には滝への流れを止め、全て大白川ダム貯水池（白水湖）に水を送り発電用水として利用している様です。
 This is the 18m high gravitational concrete/fill complex Shiromizu Dam.
A dam that acts like a sluice that divides the flow from the upstream into the neighboring Daishirakawa Dam and Shiramizu Falls.
It seems that in winter when the roads are closed, the flow to the waterfall is stopped and all the water is sent to the Daishirakawa Dam Reservoir (Lake Shiramizu) for use as power generation water.
